Aldi’s Specially Selected Ayrshire Cured Ham Hock with Farmhouse Cheddar Sandwich costs (as of 2024) £2.69, which is quite expensive for a store-bought sandwich but has much more filling than the others!
The first bite into the cheddar sandwich is very cheesy- then you can feel the meat texture, which luckily isn’t tough and is pretty rather tender. The chutney inside the sandwich becomes noticeable, giving much-needed moisture to an otherwise arid area. The cheese is quite dry, but the chutney elevates its flavour and depth.
There’s nothing great to write about the bread as it’s pretty much your standard (but not that cheap) bread, which is unfortunate for £2.69. However, this sandwich feels great when you’ve not had anything all day as I had it for lunch after fasting! It can satiate you quite well though I believe you can get a lot more for the price paid with other products. It is, however, a nice treat if you get it from the Too Good to Go surprise bag like I did.
