Lidl’s Sol & Mar Tocino de Cielo Review

Lidl’s Sol & Mar Tocino de Cielo costs £1.29 and contains two ‘sweet egg-based desserts with caramel glaze’. Honestly, the sweet describes it a lot, as it was way too sweet!

Unfortunately, I did find it quite sickly sweet. I’m not sure if they put too much of the sugar sauce on it, but it was far too thick as well, which didn’t give an excellent mouthfeel. I preferred the nougat dessert over this from Sol & Mar.

I did a search on Google and discovered that Tocino de Cielo is supposed to be very rich though- so it’s not for me but if it’s what you (the reader) prefers then try it. I feel though the main reason for me disliking it is that there was just simply too much syrup on it and that made it much sweeter.

I did end up enjoying it slightly with some oats on the side to balance out the sweetness so I’m giving it a 2 out of 5 rather than just one star.
