This is a review on the product “Boba Chic Brown Sugar Bubble Tea” which is a mixture to create your very own bubble tea! It only costs £4.99 which makes it much cheaper than going to a Boba Tea place!
The bubble tea is absolutely creamy and tastes like the one you get at the bubble tea places- it’s not too sweet (so you can add sugar if you like it really sweet) so it gives you an option while also having a caramelized flavor. Making it yourself also gives you the option to have it either cold, warm or hot which is much better- as I preferred the hot bubble tea over the cold.
However, I followed the instructions at the start and the tapioca pearls didn’t cook correctly, unfortunately, which makes the experience not as great as I had expected it to be. I also tested it with the same ones that didn’t cook correctly and added boiling water over them for five minutes and they remained uncooked.
This is a big problem especially as when you have these uncooked they are quite powdery and the mouth feel is very uncomfortable- it’s quite drying and a bit like eating chalk. I’m not even sure if eating them uncooked could be possibly harmful. Another issue is that for three drinks- the drinks are really small which if you compare with getting boba tea from a store on Too Good to Go (Mooboo in my area) you can get two large drinks for around £2-£3 while this product has three small drinks.
Overall, I would say it’s best to go a bubble tea store if you want a much better quality experience or use the Too Good to Go app at a bubble tea store. The powdery tapioca pearls where horrendous and there just isn’t enough drink inside of the product to justify its price; therefore I’m giving it a 2/5.
