Lidl Eridanous Sweet Jelly Cubes (Mastic) Review

The Lidl Eridanous Sweet Jelly Cubes with Mastic flavour cost £1.99, and they were a pleasant experience to eat!

The jellies have a somewhat piney or floral flavour. It’s herbal yet slightly astringent, slowly turning into a vanilla flavour. Alongside this, the first taste is a ginger-like spiciness, which then subsides into a sweet taste. After the ginger flavour dissipates you will find a more refreshing and slight grassy taste.

The aftertaste of the jelly is quite sweet with floral notes; then, it descends into a liquorice taste. You will notice that the aftertaste takes around a few minutes to leave. This could be good or bad based on your feelings about the astringency.

The sweet jelly cubes’ texture is somewhat like mochi and very chewy. It is a satisfying texture and melts the longer you chew it! However, you will find that the jelly is very sticky and extremely soft! These are even better when you drink it with a black coffee– preferably the Eridanous one!

Unfortunately, this is not for you if you don’t want to consume a lot of sugar. According to the nutritional information at the bottom, it contains 69.2g of sugar.

Overall, the eridanous sweet jelly cubes are extremely enjoyable and is a great experience for people who haven’t tried mastic before! It’s a unique flavour that is really difficult to describe but extraordinarily enjoyable! The amount of cubes you get for the price (while also noting that mastic is expensive) is a bargain and should definitely not be missed! Though if you want to cut down on sugar- do avoid it!
