Spiced Banana Smoothie Recipe

This is a base light spiced banana smoothie that can is quite pleasant! The recipe is also super quick and easy to do that you’ll be making more in no time!

Note: The cardamom flavor can be adjusted by using less or more as the spice is quite powerful. Use less or more of the spices to adjust it to your taste; alternatively you can add different spices too!

You also may have to strain the smoothie when it’s getting low as there may be un-ground cardamom seeds left at the bottom.

Spiced Banana Smoothie

Main Ingredients

  • Bananas: When making this smoothie; you want it to be rich and have around 2-3 bananas to make sure that it is as creamy as possible!
  • Spices: Spices such as cardamom and cinnamon help to elevate the flavor and add depth to the smoothie! It’s just not the same without them! We have also used allspice in this recipe as it always makes smoothies better!
  • Plant-based Milk or Milk: You can either use plant-based milk or dairy. The smoothie is not that great with water so make sure to use this! I prefer to use oat milk if you are going to do it plant-based!
  • Plant-based Cream or Dairy Cream:
  • Salt: Salt really does wonders to a smoothie; you can add a pinch or two pinches to the smoothie! It will elevate the natural flavors inside and make it better! I found that the salt helps to make the cardamom even stronger when you drink!

Optional Ingredients

  • Honey or Sugar: Preferably, you should be using honey or maple syrup rather than sugar. This is due to the syrup being able to mix in with the smoothie much better than sugar crystals. If you’re using sugar- I suggest using a couple teaspoons of warm or hot water and mix the sugar into it until it has fully dissolved.
  • Ice Cubes: This is optional to add whether you want to make the smoothie colder.

How to Make the Spiced Banana Smoothie

For this smoothie; you should drop the bananas into the blender along with all the spices, milk and other ingredients. If you want it to be creamier; you can double the cream or yoghurt. Alternatively, a cold smoothie can be made with ice cubes. Or you can make it a sweet smoothie by adding custard instead of cream.

Once the smoothie has been made; it is imperative to use it up by at least 12 hours. It has milk/plant-based milks inside which means that it will spoil quite quickly.

Spiced Banana Smoothie Improvements

I found that adding a few teaspoons of the Lidl Dutch Style Caramel Spread works well in this smoothie! It will elevate the cinnamon and sweetness of the smoothie so if you do use it in this recipe; you can omit the sugar in the ingredients!

If you want to extend the time this smoothie will not spoil for by at least an hour. You can add a teaspoon of lemon juice. However, this may cause the smoothie to separate if you used dairy.
