Lidl Bakery Maple and Pecan Plait Review

The Lidl Bakery Maple and Pecan Plait costs only £0.69 and is okay. It’s not the best plait but also not the worst.

The pastry is quite dry and stale. Unfortunately; the pastry may have been a day old or longer when picking it up from the Lidl Bakery. However, the sweetness and slight vanilla notes from the maple syrup. I find that these notes can be further heightened if you pair the plait with a strong coffee.

Lidl Bakery Maple and Pecan Plait Review

The top of the pastry is not crunchy or crispy at all despite being puff pastry. Along with it being dry though the maple sauce inside of the pastry does provide some moisture. The pecans at the top of the pastry do provide some crunchiness, however. They are also quite fatty which is complementary to the sweetness of the pastry.

The maple and pecan plait is also very doughy and tough to chew through. The pecans look to have been slightly caramelized and this is confirmed through the sweetness they exhibit.

Overall, the plait is a very disappointing find from the Lidl Bakery. If you’re looking for something actually delicious and worthwhile they have the amazing apple turnovers! The only tasty parts of the pastry is the sauce inside of the pastry and the pecans on top. Everything else is not interesting and is disappointing. Miss this and get the other items from the bakery.
